One of Marrin Robinson's recent exhibitions is titled, Prairie, Desert, Sea and includes mixed media watercolors drawn directly on site in the tall grass prairies of Kansas, the deserts of Egypt and at Petra in Jordan as well as in the Badlands of South Dakota and along the rocky shores of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Her larger more abstracted oils are painted in her studio in Vermont or Kansas. She writes, "While my paintings are inspired by landscape - experienced, remembered and imagined, they are as much about a state of mind and emotion as they are of geography. And I find that the prairie, desert and sea hint at things larger than oneself."
Marrin Robinson has taught at a number of universities in the States and at The American University in Cairo and is currently in the Art department at Kansas State University. Her artist residencies include The American College of Greece, The Colorado College, The Ragdale Foundation and a Fulbright Grant to paint for a year in Portugal.
